pumpkin pie ‘in a cup’

I wanted to think of a fun, Thanksgiving-themed activity to do with my students that did not require too much prep or stress.

Somehow, I came across a recipe for making Pumpkin Pie, but- in a cup. Then immediately I thought that would be the perfect treat for them before going on break.

The day of, I wanted to keep it as a surprise for my students. So, our day went as usual. Then it was time for the lesson-

I began with reading a story- “You’re My Little Cutie Pie” by Nicola Edwards. I couldn’t contain myself..I was so excited to share with them the activity planned.

Then, after asking a few questions about the book- I yelled, “AND TODAY WE ARE MAKING PUMPKIN PIE IN A CUP!!” (and the crowd went wild, literally)

After getting them settled back down, I passed out the materials and we began to make it.
